Bargain prices at an ukay-ukay in downtown Mati, Davao Oriental, are giving cash-strapped Filipinos access to branded but second-hand clothing.
The Bureau of Customs is planning to legalize the importation of used clothes as part of the government’s efforts to earn more revenue and is asking lawmakers to review Republic Act 4653, which bans the importation of second-hand clothing for sanitary reasons.
