Negros folk, cultural activists reenact the 1985 Escalante massacre

Every year, Negrenses reenact the massacre that claimed the lives of 20 farmers in Escalante, Negros Occidental.

On September 20, 1985, paramilitary forces opened fire at the protesters marking the 13th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law. Policemen who were involved in the incident were eventually released from detention.

This year, members of cultural groups from different parts of the country joined the symbolic action.
