A dance protest: ‘Chacha laban sa cha-cha’
February 6, 2018

MANILA — Rights groups Karapatan Alliance for the Advancement of People’s Rights (Karapatan) and SELDA (Samahan ng mga Ex-Detainees Laban sa Detensyon at Aresto) launched a dance protest on February 3 in Sunken Garden, UP Diliman.

Faced with the impending approval of the proposed Federal Constitution, they warned against Duterte’s charter change as a tool for forwarding a full-fledged dictatorship.

Judy Taguiwalo, former Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD), also attended the dance protest and emphasized that charter change does not solve the roots of the problems of the country.

“To frustrate such ambitious and self-serving efforts, we urge organizations and individuals to undertake different forms of actions to protest this anti-people charter change,” Karapatan Secretary General Cristina Palabay said.
