MANILA – Turning Halloween party into a night of anti-corruption protest, the Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP) staged ‘Ghost Projects: The Exorcism!’ at Z Compound, Quezon City on October 31, 2025.

Edge Uyanguren, CAP secretary general, lambasted bureaucrat capitalism as the core behind rampant corruption in the country, saying it enables government officials to siphon the hard-earned money of the Filipino people for personal interests. Uyanguren encouraged the people to remain critical of the ongoing corruption hearings while those allegedly involved have yet to be brought to justice.

With satire and spectacles, cultural workers lampooned Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte over multi-billion peso corruption scandals. Attendees of the Halloween party enjoyed the political performances of Morobeats, Princess & Jeri, HARONG Queens Drag Show, Malaya, and other cultural artists.

Martial law activist and former Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy Taguiwalo also attended the Halloween party with her witch hat costume. Inspired by the youth-led protest against corruption, Taguiwalo said that senior citizens like her organized silent protests inside the malls to continuously call for accountability. She stressed the importance of participating in any activities against corruption, no matter how small or big.

CAP urged that all those involved, ‘from the bottom to the top’, must be held accountable.
Since the September 21 anti-corruption rally, CAP has mounted Black Friday protests through busking and noise barrage across the streets of Manila as a way to sustain the call for transparency, accountability, and justice. Uyanguren invited the people to join the Bonifacio Day protest on November 30 to amplify these demands. (RVO)
