At the House of Representatives, there seems to be little interest in the impeachment complaints that have thus far been filed against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the wake of testimonies in Senate investigations that no less than the First Family was involved in the rigged and overpriced National Broadband Network (NBN) deal between the Philippine government and China’s ZTE Corp. Malacañang had distributed “cash gifts” amounting to P500,000 each to congressmen and local officials at the height of the Senate probes into the NBN scam. Two impeachment complaints against Arroyo which were filed by the Opposition have so far been junked and another one from militant groups is set to be filed. But administration officials boast that the impeachment complaints would not proper because the Opposition does not have the numbers. When they say numbers, do they mean P500,000?
