“Sulong Katribu offers an alternative and genuine representation for the most oppressed, least represented and discriminated sector.”
The Cordillera Peoples Alliance (CPA) announced a new indigenous peoples (IPs) partylist group that will run for congress in the 2016 elections: the Sulong Katribu partylist.
“Sulong Katribu offers an alternative and genuine representation for the most oppressed, least represented and discriminated sector in the coming 2016 elections and beyond, said Windel Bolinget, national chairperson of Sulong Katribu partylist and CPA.
Bolinget said that Sulong Katribu aims to “advance the right to self-determination and genuine autonomy for IPs; ensure the defense of ancestral domains, resources and protection of environment from destruction and exploitation; and strengthen and develop IPs socio-cultural systems, knowledge and culture.”
Founded in October 2013 by CPA and other IP groups, he said Sulong Katribu “is progressive, pro-people and pro-environment.”
