Marihangin residents pray for peace, justice amid Eid al-Adha

Despite ongoing threats and harassment for asserting their collective right to ancestral land, Molbog indigenous people and non-Indigenous residents of Sitio Marihangin, Bugsuk, Palawan, marked Eid’l Adha with solemn prayers for peace and justice. As part of their sacred and enduring tradition, they also lit candles at the burial grounds of their departed loved ones, honoring their memory.

News in Pictures: Maco Farmers Continue to Receive Threats from the Military


Progressive groups in Southern Mindanao Region, led by human-rights group Karapatan, on Tuesday revealed that farmers in Maco, Davao del Norte, continue to experience threats and psychological torture from members of the Philippine military. According to Karapatan-SMR, the farmers have been tagged as members of the New People's Army and were included in The Order of Battle, which forced them and their families to evacuate their homes.

“More than 100,000 already viewed the YouTube clip and indignation was the overwhelming response of most viewers. In one afternoon alone, we gathered more than 4,000 signatures. The OFWs and the people have spoken and this is what we wish to deliver: Recall Salud Now!” said Eman Villanueva, secretary-general of the United Filipinos in Hong Kong (UNIFIL-MIGRANTE-HK), during a picket-protest at the Philippine Consulate General on November 4, condemning Labor Attaché Romulo Salud's rude treatment against an OFW and the Philippine government's neglect of migrant rights and welfare.
