Activist Shot Dead by Paramilitary Group

An organizer of agricultural workers was killed by suspected elements of the paramilitary group Revolutionary Proletarian Army- Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA- ABB), August 21.

Carlito B. Dacudao, 49, is a member of the National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW), an affiliate of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP).

Based on accounts of Karapatan-Negros, Dacudao was on board a motorcycle selling fish in Bgy. Estado in Victorias City around 7 a.m. when he was stopped by Atanacio de Dios “alias Takoy”, a former member of the RPA-ABB. Another unidentified RPA member bought fish from Dacudao, and four other members of the RPA-ABB identified only as “Ka Maitan” Casiple, “Ka Dodoy” and “Ka Allan” approached him.

After packing the fish bought by the unidentified RPA-ABB, Dacudao was shot at close range, hitting him on his face and lower jaw. Recovered from the scene of incident were two empty shells of 45-caliber pistol and one live ammunition.

District Councilor William Banuebo who immediately went to the crime scene took the cellphone of the victim and gave the SIM card to the local police.

Dacudao is survived by his wife Norma and seven children with the youngest being eight years old.
