MANILA — Danilo Araña Arao, teacher of journalism in UP College of Mass Communications, is set to launch three books of essays, written in Filipino, on August 16 (Thursday), 2 p.m. at the auditorium of the College of Mass Communication (CMC), University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, Quezon City.

The books are titled “Kon(tra)teksto: Pag-uungkat, Pag-uulat at Pagmumulat” (DLSU Publishing House/Central Books), “Hay, Buhay! Reklamong Todo-todo Mula sa Nag-aalboroto” (UP Press) and “Saysay ng Pagkakaugnay-ugnay: Mga Sanaysay ng Pagninilay-nilay” (UST Publishing House).

Aside from teaching journalism at UP CMC, Arao writes a column for online publications Pinoy Weekly (pinoyweekly.org) and The Lobbyist (thelobbyist.biz). He is part also of the editorial board of Bulatlat.com.

His three books contain Arao’s essays on various topics such as journalism, media, communication, politics, economics, culture, technology, blogging and web authoring. While most of the essays are written in the Philippines, it also include some written when the author was staying in Indonesia and South Korea.

The three books compile most of the author’s essays from 2006 to 2009, published in his regular column titled “Konteksto” in Pinoy Weekly.

The Kon(tra)teksto and Hay Buhay! books were included in the mass launch of the DLSU Publishing House and UP Press last June 11 and August 3, respectively.

Arao is launching his three books in time also for the Language Month (Buwan ng Wika). (https://www.bulatlat.com)
