In this video, residents of Barangay Corazon de Jesus, an urban-poor community in San Juan City, Metro Manila, battle the police, which include snipers and goons by the local government who were sent to demolish hundreds of homes to make way for a city hall and commercial centers. The demolition turned violent as the police used clubs, truncheons and water cannons against the residents, who fought back by throwing rocks, even plastic bags full of feces, at the demolition crew. Several were arrested and injured. Former president Joseph Estrada and his son, JV Ejercito, a congressman representing San Juan, later held a press conference blaming leftists for the violence. The residents denied the allegation and accused the Estradas of being heartless.
