MANILA – ACT Teachers Partylist filed their candidacy papers today, October 5, as they seek re-election in their bid to continue their fight for the rights and welfare of Filipino teachers.
Members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers held a send-off program for the nominees of ACT Teachers Partylist this morning, saying that the House of Representatives is a “key avenue in which the cause of teachers and the whole education sector can and shall be advanced.”

Their first three nominees include: incumbent ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro, former ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio, and Alyansa ng Mga Tagapagtanggol ng Wikang Filipino (Tanggol Wika) Lead Convenor David Michael San Juan.

Since it first won a congressional seat, ACT Teachers Partylist has filed resolutions and authored laws on the rights and welfare of teachers, including Republic Act No. 10743 that declared October 5 of every year as National Teachers’ Day.
In a separate statement, the Alliance of Concerned Teachers said the Duterte administration continues to deny them of their rights and welfare as they remain overworked, underpaid, and undersupported.
“We shall exhaust all available measures, exercise our constitutionally protected rights and freedoms to better the conditions of millions of educators in the country and the state of Philippine education—not only for our benefit, but for the entire nation whom we continue to serve,” said ACT Secretary General Raymond Basilio.
