More than half of party-lists linked to political dynasties, big businesses and corruption cases

The original intent of the party-list law is to give the marginalized and underserved sectors of society a chance to participate in the elections and lawmaking. But a recent study by election watchdog Kontra Daya flagged 55 percent of the party-list groups participating in the 2025 elections for their links to political dynasties, big businesses, police/military connection, corruption, and dubious advocacy.

Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigrants, concerned Filipino migrants denounced the ‘dehumanizing’ and ‘negligent’ conditions inside detention facilities of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as the lack of support from the Philippine government amidst the worsening cases of raids and arrests.
