Until now, the Obama administration has not yet responded to the Supreme Court order to explain the US side on the Tubbataha incident. This shows “the US government’s disrespect for our justice system and its indifference on how we assert our sovereignty.”

Progressive groups are hounding the 2013 joint US-RP military exercises, which begins today, to protest the continuous assault on the country’s sovereignty, the human rights violations resulting from it and the toxic wastes it leaves behind.
National labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno condemned today the Holy week docking of three US Navy vessels in the country for so-called “routine port calls,” saying the incident shows that the country’s Visiting Forces Agreement with the US is deeply one-sided and that it violates the country’s Constitution.
