Less than one in every ten wage and salary workers in the Philippines belong to a union. And of these few unionists, even fewer, only 12 percent, have collective bargaining agreements, which give them slightly better wages and work condition than those prescribed by law.
There are 200,000 unemployed nurses in the country. Yet those who work in government and private hospitals are overworked and underpaid.
Union says its overall proposal would cost LBC just P3.15 million out of its accumulated net income of P56.85 million over the last two years.
